Donetsk Regional League of Business and Professional Women (DRLBPW) is a voluntary, non-profit, non-political organization. It unites women-specialists, professionals in economics, production, business, science, culture, medicine and others.
DRLBPW AIMS ARE
- to unite efforts of business and professional women, women-specialists and entrepreneurs for the purpose of upholding and protection of their lawful social, economic and political interests; for mutual assistance and support in nurturing and developing women’s business initiatives and entrepreneurship;
- to enhance the role of women and their influence on the economic, political, and social life of the society to a level truly equal with men;
- to eliminate all gender discrimination in economic and social life.
STRUCTURE AND ORGANS OF MANAGEMENT OF DRLBPW are Conference, Council, and Board.
Basic structural units are organizations, departments and branches.
MEMBERSHIP is Individual, Collective, or Honorary.
Members of the League seek to uphold the Code of Honor adopted by the Constituent Conference of DRLBPW.
SHORT HISTORY
The League’s foundation started in late 1992 with analytical work and series of theoretical conferences. This was followed by the creation of an organizational committee, a TV film “A woman in business”, the conducting of Actions of Civic Harmony in the region, establishing contacts with business women, and meetings in the cities of the region.
A conference establishing the Donetsk Regional League of Business Women took place on December 19, 1995. The DRLBW was registered by the Justice Department of the Donetsk Region on May 8, 1996 (n. 177).
Since June 15, 1997, upon the decision of extraordinary regional conference, the League has been called the Donetsk Regional League of Business and Professional Women.
25 branches in different cities of the region (267 members) and 2 collective members (795 people).
The DRLBPW is a member of International Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW International), Women’s Consortium of Ukraine.
MAIN DIRECTIONS OF WORK
- help for people , who are in crisis situation, suffered from human trafficking, became victims of violence;
- women’s economical empowerment, promotion of employment, self-employment and entrepreneurship;
- support for NGOs.
